Game Recap: U18s Lose MSPL Final in Sudden-Death Penalty Kicks

The Rosevelt Soccer Club U18s (3-2-2) lost in sudden-death penalty kicks to DSA United (6-1) in the Maine State Premier League final yesterday at Thomas College.

After the Bull Moose jumped out to an early 2-0 lead on goals by Michael Sanzari (2017) and Sam Mugisha (2019) in the eleventh and thirteenth minutes, respectively, DSA United clawed back in the 15th and 27th minutes to even the game at two heading into halftime. The score remained deadlocked at two for the remaining 45 minutes of regulation, but DSA United scored a go-ahead goal four minutes into the 15-minute overtime to take a 3-2 lead. Rosevelt's Sanzari scored with only five minutes remaining to even the score, and the second overtime ended 3-3.

Both teams went eight penalty-takers deep before DSA United ended the sudden-death portion of penalty kicks on their eighth attempt.
